One of my favourite genres of celebrity profiles is the F*ck It Later-in-Life Tell-All. Now and then, a legend of their particular industry will grant an interview to a lucky publication, ostensibly to promote something they otherwise don’t have much interest in beyond contractual obligation. They’ll get through the mandatory plugs for whatever movie or album they’re dropping, then let it rip. Hey, why not? They’re old, they’ve made their money, and they have nothing left to prove. That’s how we get Quincy Jones letting us in on everyone’s business, or the late Joel Schumacher talking about his hundreds of sexual conquests. We need more of these in life. It should be mandatory once you get to a certain age, like being in a Book Club sequel or presenting at the Oscars.
